Outdoor Smudging Space (Shakopee High School)
The building of the Outdoor Smudging Space is officially underway! Located on the south lawn at Shakopee HS, the space is expected to be completed around the end of March. Justyne Vogel, American Indian Education Coordinator, and Katy Tabke, English Teacher, have been working on the project with two groups of students. The Native Group is involved with some decision-making and kept apprised of progress. The Smudging Design Committee includes 15 students with a specific interest in this project and tackles most decisions. Brett Kaufhold’s Construction Management and Development classes are getting a fantastic start to the build, and we can’t wait to see what these exceptional students accomplish!
